Getting started

  1. Install the SubWise Chrome extension in your browser.
  2. Install the SubWise app and create an account or sign in.
  3. Open a video with subtitles in the browser and click the SubWise extension to show a pairing QR code.
  4. In the app, scan the QR code to connect your phone to the browser session.
  5. Watch with live subtitles on your phone — tap any phrase for AI translation and explanations.

Frequently asked questions

How do I connect the app to my browser?

Install the SubWise Chrome extension, open it on a video page (Netflix, YouTube, etc.), and a QR code will appear. In the mobile app, sign in and scan that QR code to pair your phone with the browser session. Subtitles then stream to your phone in real time.

The subtitles are not showing on my phone.

Make sure the extension and the app are signed in to the same account, the video is actually playing with subtitles enabled in the browser, and both devices have an internet connection. Re-scanning the QR code from the extension usually re-establishes the session.

How do subscriptions and the free plan work?

SubWise offers a free plan with a daily usage quota and a Premium subscription with higher limits. You can subscribe and manage or cancel your subscription from the Profile screen in the mobile app, or directly in your App Store / Google Play account settings.

How do I restore a purchase?

Open the Profile screen in the app and tap Manage subscription. If your Premium status does not appear, make sure you are signed in with the same account used for the purchase, then restart the app. If it still does not restore, contact us at the email below.

How do I delete my account or data?

Email us at support@subwise.org from your account email and we will delete your account and associated data. See our Privacy Policy for details.
